Fly Fishing Guides and Info

Finally, your casting abilities should allow you to cast these heavy rigs. The trick is to silently drift along the bank and cast at every likely spot and strip the fly back into the main current. You will not catch a lot of trout doing this but the possibility of hooking up with a big brown is greater than by any other method. This is heavy work but the rewards are great.

Let our professional guides introduce you to this technique. They are all experienced boat handlers and know what to do when a big one hits.

We are frequently asked, what is the best technique to target trophy brown trout? The answer is streamer fishing.

During higher levels of power generation the larger brown trout will hold tight to the bank to escape the heavy current. The best way to tempt them from the bank is to put a large streamer under their nose and give it an erratic stripping movement. This can trigger a vicious take and can be the beginning of an epic struggle.

This technique requires a stout eight or nine weight rod to throw the large articulated streamer used.  In addition, you need a variety of various sink tip fly lines of different weights and sink rates to match to the ever-changing water levels on our tail waters.
